Last week during my quiet time I set ‘my’ plans before the Lord for the day. I prayed that He would guide me. I spent some time listening for His leading. I just heard the word ‘Timing.’ Several verses came to my mind and I quickly jotted down some notes. One of the notes was ‘hurry doesn’t help’. I thought it was a new message series from God. And it is!
But it was first a word for me for that day. I totally missed it because I assumed it was for others at a later date. I was in a hurry. I had to get my ‘to do list’ done! Have you ever been there? A simple task turned into three hours because I was in a hurry! Several years ago God gave me this principle:
There is never time to be in a hurry.
Did I ever forget that principle! Why do we always have time to do something a second or third time when we could have slowed down and done it the first? Do you ever feel like God is not doing things fast enough for you? Have you been ‘waiting on the Lord’ for so long that you have given up?If you have ever asked "How long?" (A phrase that occurs about 60 times in the Bible); if so, you are in great company. Abraham waited 25 years before God fulfilled His promise to give him a son. Why did God wait thousands of years before He sent His Son to be the Savior of the world? Why is evil continuing? The Bible says:

But God isn’t too late or too early. His timing is perfect. His ways are perfect but can be perplexing to us. We trust Him even though we don’t completely understand.
We are preparing to celebrate Easter next Sunday. Today is Palm Sunday. The day we remember Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. It happened at the right time and was part of prophecy from Zechariah 9:9.

A week later this same crowd that was praising Him was calling for His crucifixion.
In this new series we are going to look at timing. But first we have to look at what our concept of time really is. We talk about wasting time, saving time, investing time, time lost, time is money, as if time is something tangible. During the recent winter Olympics I was once again reminded how small the margin is between gold, silver, and bronze. Without modern digital time measurement and slow motion cameras it would be hard to declare the winner. Fractions of seconds separate the winners from the losers.
The New Testament has two main words for time: Chronos and Kairos. The difference is huge and when we understand it our perspective and life will change. Chronos is clock time, measurable time, calendar time. It’s the ‘grim reaper’ telling you that your time is running out, the hourglass is almost empty.
Kairos is a moment of time. It is the opportune time, the right time. It’s that special moment when you say “I do” at a wedding. The date (Chronos) was set and now the moment (Kairos) has come! It is the first time you see your baby girl or when the Dr. says, “It’s a boy!”

God is in control
“in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, but has in due time manifested His word through preaching.” Titus 1:2–3 (NKJV)
Whatever you are going through right now remember that God is in control. Whatever “season of life” you are in, thank God for it. And remember, He doesn’t change. He will be faithful to His promises. Ask Him for His perspective on your situation. Let Him give you a “Word” from the Bible. And trust what He says. It will come to pass.
God is Faithful
The fact that God does not change is a comforting thought. “For I am the LORD, I do not change...” Malachi 3:6
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
We can trust in an unchanging Savior. And even though things are changing constantly, God remains faithful!
