Staff News
It is with mixed feeling that we inform the church family that our English Pastor, Rev. Paul Lam, will be taking up the full time position of Church Life & Leadership Associate in CBOQ starting April 24. The encouraging news is that Pastor Paul, Lis and their girls will stay on in SCBC and continue to be part of our family. We are deeply thankful for Paul’s faithful and fruitful service with us for the past ten years and wish him the best in his new ministry. His last day as an official SCBC pastor will be Apr 7.

Write to Your MP re: Federal Government’s Summer Grant Program
For the last 23 years SCBC has been using the program to hire summer interns to help at the church in programs like SummerFun. This year the federal government changed the application procedure and required applicants to sign an attestation that they affirm reproductive rights (abortion) and all sexual orientation rights (LGBTQ). In good conscience the leaders of SCBC, while respecting other’s choices, felt we could not agree with these attestations. This resulted in SCBC being unable to apply for a grant. A letter was sent to the Prime Minister, Minister of Labour and our local Member of Parliament indicating we felt that this is a violation of our religious freedom. The letter was signed by all the Deacons, Pastors and Board of Directors. Please pray that the leaders of this nation will hear our concerns and respect our faith. The Social Concern Committee will keep you informed as this develops.
First Quarter General Church Meeting
Please plan to join us next Sun Mar 18 at 1 pm. Light refreshment will be available on that day at 12:30 pm.
Church Office Renovation
Due to the impending renovation starting from March 19, a temporary office will be set up in room 133 for a period of 5 weeks until the renovation is complete. However, the office staff and their phone numbers will remain unchanged and the office in full operation throughout the renovation period. Please pray for smooth and safe construction.
Praise and Thanksgiving
Our Heavenly Father, we thank You because Your loyal love and compassion never run out. They are new every morning. Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains. Therefore, we will praise You.
God’s Church
Praise God that we currently have 138 camper registration for SF but we still have a wait list of camper registration. Pray for more adult leaders to join this outreach ministry. Pray that God will send us summer children ministry interns to serve with us.
Global Need
God is deeply concerned for the poor and is constantly calling His people to have compassion for those who are in need. "There are 1.02 billion undernourished people in the world today. That means one in nearly six people do not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life.” Please pray for world hunger and that God would move in our hearts to help.
Mission Prayer
Please pray for Lewis Lam & Felain Ho who minister to Chinese students in Germany. They led an academic to Christ who lead her father to Christ a few days before he died. She also has led her mother and husband to Christ. Her husband is now sharing. Pray that the ripple effect of the Lam’s ministry will continue.
Sunday mornings at SCBC
We will be entering the season of Lent preparing our hearts to fathom our Saviour’s sacrifice.
