Interceding is standing in the gap for someone else. It means you plead on someone else’s behalf.
1. What is intercessory prayer?

Intercession is prayer that pleads to God on your behalf and on behalf of others.
A. Jesus intercedes on our behalf.

“I can think of nothing in the world more moving than that I am the subject of Jesus’ intercessory prayers!” – Dr. Tony Merida

B. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us.

C. The Bible gives examples of intercessory prayer to pattern our prayer lives after.
Intercessors pray when you can’t/don’t.

Intercessors pray in power you are depleted.

Intercessors ask for people to intercede for you in the hardest places for you to defend.

Intercessory prayer is a blessing we have to fight for others as we remember what Jesus did for us through His prayer in the garden.

Interceding for our families is one of the most important things we can do in prayer: praying for protection, salvation, godliness and bold witness for Jesus

While others are praying for you, work on the things God is showing you to do to take next steps in your faith.

While others work, you pray for them in the areas they need a mediator.

Be ready to pray for your brothers/sisters- run to answer the call by falling to your knees for those who are being attacked or are in some form of distress.

Stand on this reality: God fights for us as we pray!

The battles we fight as intercessors never end. Stay in the fight!

Read Nehemiah 4 together as a group.
1. Describe a time you asked for people to be praying for something that you couldn’t handle alone.

3. How does God use intercessory prayer as a tool to help your growth as a Christian?

4. What are possible reasons that some Christians may be reluctant to ask people to pray for them?
