The study of Genesis is so important for many reasons. One of the greatest reasons is because God has given us sixty-six books of the Bible supernaturally through inspiration by the Holy Spirit. If the first book of the Bible is deemed unreliable, then the remaining 65 books are unreliable as well. What we can learn about God in Genesis is irreplaceable. We can trust all of Genesis by faith.
