Have you ever had the experience of feeling entirely alone in the middle of a crowd of people?
Last week we said:
● It is a community free from rejection.
● It is a community eager and able to forgive.

A community of humility
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves Philippians 2:3
Humility to Paul meant to adopt a way of thinking that puts the best interests of others ahead of them.
…clothe yourselves with humility toward one another…1 Peter 5:5
Paul spoke of humility in a way that called Jesus’ followers to think of themselves as servants of one another
This is a community of people whose growing inclination is to think of others before thinking of self.
A community marked by humility is a group of people who simply don’t think of themselves nearly as much as they think of other’s good
A community of encouragement
● Therefore encourage one another and build up one another just as you also are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Encourage: calling someone to your side or to come near.
So very often what a person needs in order to keep going, to persevere, to endure is simply comfort found in the concerned presence of another.
Words of encouragement are best spoken when we have come along side of the person – not just physically but in the manner of being “with” them as in for them; identifying with them, allowing their struggle and their pain to touch you.
…not forsaking our own assembling together as is the habit of some but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:25
As we do life with God together we each become increasingly more and more like Jesus – and this Community of Christ is increasingly apparent in our midst
God’s part is the transformation of our hearts – the supernatural work of making us become more the kind of people Jesus was when He lived among us.
Our part is to learn Jesus – to get to know Him and trust Him more as we follow Him through life.
