Pastor Joseph Salajan Bio

Pastor Joe was born in the little town of Crasna (Romania). Ever since he was a child, he has been fascinated by the unique connection between pastors and their special book, the Bible. When at the age of 7 he received his first little Bible from a brave pastor who was able to procure it for him in spite of the interdictions of the communist regime, he felt special and decided one day he would become a pastor.

After serving as a Pastor for 8 years in Romania, in 2013 he immigrated to the USA. He currently serves as Lead Pastor of Plantation Seventh-day Adventist Church. Along with his wonderful wife Anda and their gorgeous daughter Alessandra, he enjoys proclaiming God’s grace and ministering to his fellows.

Pastor Joe is currently enrolled in a doctoral Program (DMin in Preaching) with Andrews University. His hobbies are languages, music, and poetry.

Sermon Theme: Jesus is coming soon! He is at the door

The Context

The last decade of the first century A.D. was difficult for the Christian churches in Asia Minor… Internal and external attacks turned some local churches into a crucible. It is in such a context that the Apostle John was exiled to Patmos.
Seven Messages

Jesus gives John SEVEN messages that he has to write down and send to the 7 churches in Asia: one customized message to each of the SEVEN churches. These messages were not sent separately to the churches; all SEVEN messages were sent to all SEVEN churches!!!

At the end of each message, Jesus says: He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches (Rev. 2:7). Listen carefully to all messages… There is a deeper meaning here…!
Why SEVEN?

Jesus picked those 7 churches and not others for a reason: to outline the history of Christianity in 7 phases.
The Middle

Right in the middle, to Thyatira (Dark Middle Age…) Jesus says: "But hold fast what you have till I come (2:25).
Watch!

To Sardis: Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as
a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. (3:3)
Increased Urgency!

To Philadelphia: "Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown." (3:11)

Please notice the progression! More and more urgent! I come! I will come as a thief…! I am coming quickly/soon! What’s next?
Standing at the Door

Laodicea! Rev 3:20

Jesus stands at the door! What door? Jesus knocks on the door of the heart, and wants to get in… I say: yes, He does! Jesus knocks on the door of your house… He wants to eat lunch/dinner/supper (the main meal) with you and your family… and Yes, He does!
The Rest of the Story

However, there is more to this! A few decades before, Jesus was teaching his disciples with the parable of the fig tree: when its branches have become tender and put forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things (the signs of His coming that are on the news…), know that He is near -- at the doors! (Matt. 24:32-33)
Conclusion

Jesus is at the door of Laodicea: the 7 th church, the last in the row… It’s the church of our time! He’s at the door!!! He said He’s coming, so He’s coming!
