Daniel Dilemma - Week 1
We are kicking off a new series this weekend, called “the Daniel dilemma“, to teach us how to stand firm and love well in a culture of compromise. As we walk through our daily lives, it can feel like we are constantly besieged with competing messages through our televisions, radios, social media, and even our friends and family. The fact is, the enemy has an agenda and uses culture in an effort to influence the way we think and feel. So how do we navigate a culture that is constantly shifting its core values? Come learn through the life of Daniel how to respond with grace and truth in a shifting culture.

Week 1: Grace & Truth
Dwight Nash
February 11, 2018
Culture has an agenda.
1. To change our identity.
2. To compromise our standards.
3. To create a confrontation.
When culture shifts we must respond the right way.
Truth = God’s standard.
Grace = God’s favor
We must learn grace and truth and the balance of the two.
• In the same way Daniel and his friends were given new names, the enemy tries to rename us through cultural influences. How has culture tried to rename you?
?• Christians have typically had two extreme responses to culture. We either come against culture and become argumentative and dogmatic, or become like culture, sacrificing truth to avoid offense. Jesus is full of grace AND truth. How can we become more like Him?
• What are some ways that you can influence culture?

• Share with each other one thing that stood out to you in Pastor Dwight's sermon.
• Read Daniel 1:1-20 as a family. Have fun sounding out the different names as you read through it (you may adopt a shorter nickname if needed, like "King Neb").
?• Discuss: What choices did Daniel and his friends make? Was it easy to be different? What was the result of their choices? How does their story relate to your life and things you are facing?
?• Pray together: Ask God to help you and your family make wise choices and honor Him in everything you do.
