Welcome to Agincourt Church this morning! We're so glad you have joined us today.

This is week 1 of our 5 week series, "Conversations About The Holy Spirit". Today's teaching, "The Spirit As Life", is by Dr Van Johnson, Master’s Pentecostal Seminary.

See below for a short article from Pastor Jonathan, teaching notes and announcements.
Welcome to a series that is going to encourage you to be talking about the person of the Holy Spirit. There are so many mysterious aspects, questions and often misrepresentations of who the Holy Spirit is and what the Holy Spirit does, in and through us, as we follow Jesus.

During our weekend gatherings and in our Community Groups, Pastor Keith Smith, Dr. Van Johnson and I will be inviting you into a conversation about the gifts of the Spirit, the baptism of the Spirit, the leading of the Spirit and an invitation to experience every life-giving aspect of the Spirit’s work and presence.

So join us with your questions, apprehensions and expectation as we embark on a conversation about the Holy Spirit!

Jonathan Smith
Lead Pastor
"Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."

~Genesis 1:2
"Then the Lord God formed a man[a] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."

~Genesis 2:7
"To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’
“Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life...By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”

~Genesis 3:17,19
2. The Spirit Draws Us Back to Life
““The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.””

~Luke 4:18-21
" The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

~Ezekiel 37:1-6
"You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[a] because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you."

~Romans 8:9-11
“You must have the same attitude that Jesus Christ had.”

~Philippians 2:5 [NLT]
At the cross at the cross
Where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day
Alas and did my Saviour bleed,
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?
