I. Introduction
A. You will be remembered for two things
1. The problems you solve
2. Or the problems you create
B. Your assignment is any problem you were created to solve on earth
1. Life is the art of drawing, without an eraser = John Christian
2. Before you can win a fight, you have to be in the fight= Bill Walsh
C. Life
1. After yet another round of cancer surgery Donald Hall wrote “For weeks after my last operation- frail and without energy, sleeping ten hours-I looked in my house at all the books I had not read and wept for my inability to read them. Or I looked at the great books I had read too quickly in my avidity- telling myself I would return to them Later. There is never a later but for most of my life I have believed in “later”
2. Life is short, life is precious
3. The older I get the more I can relate to Donald Hall
D. We must not waste another moment, it is imperative for us to realize we are on an assignment
1. Jesus said;
· Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
2. Paul said to the Jews;
· Acts 13:47 For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
3. Paul said to the Macedonians;
· Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
E. Our assignment?
1. Our assignment is to further Heaven on earth
· Matthew 6:9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
2. My question is today, to you, what are you doing to bring Heaven to Earth?
3. If your answer is I don’t know, the next three weeks could change your life!
4. Let me just throw this in here, lol. If you will allow your life to spin around one passage my recommendation would be
· Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
· Btw, it is Jesus’ recommendation too!
II. Body
A. Your assignment is any problem you were created to solve on earth
1. Creativity is the search for solutions
a. Let me Illustrate, in large gatherings of the past, speakers could not be heard clearly. So, microphones and pubic address systems were created
b. Eyeglasses were created for those who had difficulty seeing
2. Problems are the catalysts for creativity
a. When an inventor weather it is Thomas Edison or whomever invents something his creativity is based on an existing problem. He solves the problem and he is rewarded according
3. Why?
a. Why did you buy a car? because it solves A transportation problem.
b. Why did you watch the news last night? to solve an information problem
4. So every part of you has an assignment, a problem to solve
a. Your eyes have assignment to seeing
b. Your ears solve the problem of hearing
c. That is why God created us.
· God wanted a love relationship
· He wanted to be chosen, pursued, and treasured
· So He created Adam and Eve
5. Adam had a problem, solution God created Eve
6. Every day when you open your eyes, you are looking- into an entire world crammed with solutions
· Everything is a solution to somebody, somewhere, at some time
7. You are A Solution to Somebody
a. You are a reward to someone
b. Somebody needs you
c. Somebody wants you
d. I know you want someone to love you, meatloaf said it best, two out of three ain’t bad. Joke
e. You are necessary to somebody, somewhere today!
8. You were created for a specific and very special purpose
a. Jeremiah 1:4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
b. God will assist you in your assignment
· Jeremiah 1:7“Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.
9. It is essential that you discover your assignment and give yourself totally to it.
· 1 Corinthians 7:20 Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called.
10. Everything was created to bring God pleasure
· Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.”
11. Your assignment is to solve problems for those who are sent.
B. What you hate is a clue to something you are assigned to correct
1. Anger is passion, it simply requires appropriate focus
· Have you ever wondered why others were not angry about situations that infuriated you?
· Of course you have!
· Anger is a clue to your assignment
2. Moses hated slavery. When He saw an Egyptian beating A Israelite, fury arose. Why? He was a deliverer.
3. Three wisdom keys in understanding anger
· You cannot correct what you are unwilling to confront
· Anything permitted will increase
· What you tolerate you cannot change
4. I love wisdom, I hate Ignorance
· You cannot change or correct something unless you have a God-given hatred for it
· Weather it is sickness, injustice, poverty, divorce, etc
· God doesn’t hate people, but has a lot to say about situations
· Remember were talking about assignments
· Psalm 97:10 You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
· Proverbs 6:16 These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.
· Psalm 26:5 I have hated the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.
5. Persuaded become the Persuasive
· We need people like you to rise up with a burning desire who can successfully plead the case before the counsels of Heaven
· Have you petitioned heaven over issues that make you angry?
· Are you trying to rebuke off of you, what God has put on you to bring change? A mind set!
· I’m talking about of an anointing, a mantle, a mandate to complete an assignment from God.
· To up-root the seeds of rebellion growing in us
· Your anger is important, it’s very important, it simply needs appropriate focus
· Do not ignore it, Satan dreads your fury
· An angry man is an awakened man
· Only A angry man can change the mind of the unconcerned
· Anger alone cures apathy
· Focused fury is the key to change.
C. What grieves you is a clue to something you are assigned to correct
1. Tears talk
a. Whatever makes you weep is a clue to something you were created to heal
2. Compassion is a signpost
a. What grieves you?
· Battered wives
· Abused children
· Ignorance
· Disease
· Poverty
· Homosexuality
· Abortion
b. Identify it, be honest
3. Caring qualifies you as an instrument of healing
4. What makes you cry is a clue to a problem God anointed you to change, conquer, and heal
a. Remember Nehemiah
· His heart was broken about the walls of Jerusalem needing repaired
· He could not sleep
· He wept for hours
· He was stirred to write letters contact officials and even change his personal life to rebuild the walls
b. Exam Ezra
· His heart was distressed over the temple in Jerusalem
· He could not rest
· He wept
· He knew what few knew
5. The presence of God is the only cure for wounded people
· Ezra recognized that places mattered; and that God would honor and reward those who sacrificed A worship center in the city.
6. Feelings are often the signpost to your assignment
a. Social insanity is epidemic
· Look @ almost every billboard in this country has been stamped on by the liquor industry
· And yet alcohol has killed more people has killed more people on our highways than were killed in the Vietnam conflict
b. With feelings we must be careful
· Many of our troubles occur because we base our choices on unreliable authorities
1. Culture= everyone is doing it
2. Tradition= we’ve always done it
3. Reason= it seems logical
4. Emotion= it just felt right
c. The word of God is the only reliable authority we should ever have!
· It’s more relevant than any culture
· It’s breaks the back of tradition
· It’s more stable than our emotions
7. Your greatest enemy is always within you
8. Tears are clues to where God will use you most
III. Conclusion
A. There are many things that should set us on fire
B. What grieves you?
C. What saddens you?
D. What moves you to tears?
E. Pay attention to it!
