Introduction
It is a given that times will change. We all experience changing seasons (Eccl. 3:1) However, the one constant in this life is the steadfast nature of God.
Review
There are four ways we can respond to change – We can complain (fuss about what’s going on, while doing nothing), we can compete (fight what’s going on and cause frustration), we can even become complacent (do nothing and fall behind. But if you’re going to live an extraordinary life you must comprehend the times while still complying with the principles of God's word. You can also collaborate with others for success.

How do you handle these changing times? Let me suggest four extraordinary responses to change:

Embrace change – Accept the fact that the world is changing. Some things you just cannot change.
Explore – Discover new opportunities for growth and development
Evolve – Make adjustments in your methodology and grow
Expand – Thrive in an ever-changing environment. Broaden your horizons.
“Methods change. Principles never do. Methods are many. Principles are few.” - Dr. Elmer Towns, Liberty Theological Seminary
No More Sad Songs

The Israelites exiled in Babylon complained about their situation and even allowed their situation to hinder their praise. Change happened and instead of praising God in the midst of the change, they complained.

In a sense we are all enslaved to the changes taking place in our world today. How are you responding (Christians don’t react, we respond)? Are you competing? Are you complaining? Are you complacent?
Notes:
- In 1 Chronicles 12 David had just been anointed king. Now men from all twelve tribes of Israel came to join him and they became his army.
- Each tribe represented with a group of men and contributed something to the cause (v. 23-37)
- The sons of Issachar “understood the times” (NIV). These were people who were knowledgeable of astronomy and physical science. They knew what course of action the people need to take
The Anointing of Issachar

How do you get the anointing of Issachar (supernatural power to discern the times and season)?
1. Remember that God is not a respecter of persons – He’s a respecter of faith.
2. Know that in Christ Jesus, the blessings of Abraham (and his descendants) are yours (Gal. 3:9, 13-14)
3. Ask for it.
4. Pay attention
In Conclusion....

Like the sons of Issachar we must be able to understand (comprehend) the times. We must be able to perceive trends, evaluate information and consider our strategies for knowing God and making Him known.

Growth requires change. Change is painful. Therefore growth = pain.
