In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye [are] cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, [even] this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].

As we look at this passage, we are reminded of how the Jesus and the disciples passed through this grainfield, and the disciples were hungry, so they plucked ears of corn to eat. It wasn’t Denny’s or Ruth Chris, or Jeff Ruby’s Steak house, but it was at least food, something to eat .It doesn’t appear that Jesus was concerned if other people saw HIS disciples eating corn, Jesus didn’t try to flex and act like they were rolling big when it came to having meals! Other times, the disciples may have gotten better meals with Jesus, but on this day, it was just an ear of corn!
Truth be told, I bet that many people expected that the Messiah who was prophesied to come, would’ve came with the best! Some may have expected Him to have the best clothes, the best servants, the best home, and in this case, the best meals! Some Jews are known to have very special and large meals on the Sabbath on special plates and more, yet on this Sabbath day, the meal of the moment was simply ears of corn.
Believers, we as Americans are spoiled. We have stuff, and in fact, we have too much stuff. Some of us have TV’s in almost every room, every member of your household has a phone, even if it doesn’t have active service, we have tablets, laptops, computers, internet and more!
Jesus, way back in his time, was showing us how to lead a simple life, a life without so much stuff, and as his followers we should also be content to lead a simple life! We want to encourage you today to let you know that it’s okay to live a simple life!

Point #2: Be content
Opportunities to support this ministry
At Abundant Grace, we teach that there are benefits to obeying the promises of God. In Malachi 3:8-12, God promises to pour out a blessing unto us when we give our tithes and offerings. We won’t ask you for your mortgage money or your electric bill money, because we believe that God gave you that money to pay your mortgage or electric bill! Neither will we ask 50 people to stand up, and then to ask you for you $100 after you are up! We just believe that if everyone pays their tithes and offerings, then the needs of the church will be met. God has given so much to us, so why can’t we give back to him!
