12:5–13
AN END-TIME PICTURE THAT REPRESENTS THE END OF A TIME
Compare to Matt. 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and Rev. 21–22
1 + 2 + 1/2 = “broken 7”
1,335 - 1,290?
In 11:31 the “abomination of desolation” refers to Antiochus IV and the sufferings of the Maccabean era.
In 9:27 it can only refer to the Roman destruction of Jerusalem. It is to the Romans that 12:11 again refers, and is the one to which Jesus referred.

“In Revelation 13:5 we are told the beast is given authority to continue ’42 months’ which is ‘time, times & half a time’ (Rev. 12:6 & 14). This is exactly how the angel described things in Dan. 12:7. To remain faithful through the 1290 days is to enter into the blessed state of triumph signified numerically by 1335 days. (See Rev. 20:1–6 where the triumph of the saints is numerically described as ‘1,000 years’ or reigning with Christ.) ... Daniel is told not to worry but go his way. He is to die & not see the events which would fulfill this vision but he wouldn’t be forgotten. When the time comes he will ‘stand in his lot.’ His ‘lot’ is his own special place. Each man who had an inheritance had his ‘lot.’ It was his own place, not another’s. Daniel was a prophet “& one day when the time was right he would be called to take that place. Jesus in making mention of Daniel began the awakening. When Jerusalem fell, Daniel stood up & was acknowledged! Jesus warned that is what would happen even as Daniel had said. ‘At the end of the days’ ends the book as it began, with an affirmation that everything is under God’s control. He is the sovereign of times & seasons. We’ve got to get a hold on this & live as though it were a deep conviction with us!"
