Adventually - “The Arrival of Peace”
Advent - a time to wait, watch and hope.
What kind of waiter am I?
Luke 2:8-14 (NIV) And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
1. The arrival of Jesus brings peace to my soul.
Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
2. The arrival of Jesus brings peace to my relationships.
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
3. The arrival of Jesus brings peace to my future.
Matthew 6:27, 33-34 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
To experience peace, you have to be willing to disrupt your comfort.
