With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and stay alert in this, with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. Ephesians 6:18
It’s Time To Pray Part 4:
Jesus on Persistent Prayer
“Jesus’ followers said, ‘Lord, teach us to pray!’ Then Jesus said, ‘When you pray, begin by saying ‘Our Father in heaven. . ."" Luke 11:1-2
MATTHEW 7:7-12
1.God Promises to Answer if I Keep on Asking
“Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. For anyone who asks will receive; and anyone who seeks will find, and to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
Persistence in Prayer overcomes our insensitivity to God, not His insensitivity to us! “he had nothing”… Luke 11:6 no Plan B.
•When I’m close to my Father, I just Ask HIM
•When I’m not close to my Father, I must Seek HIM
•When a barrier is in the way, I Knock for HIM
2.God will never give me what in Unhelpful
“If your child asked you for some bread to eat, would any of you fathers give her a stone instead?” Matthew 7:9
Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.Psalm 116:2
3.God will never give me anything that is Harmful
“Or if your child asked for some fish, would you put a snake on their plate?”Matthew 7:10
4.God will only give me what is Best for Me
“Now since even you as a sinful, imperfect parent, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more does you good and perfect Father in heaven give only gifts that are good to those who ask him!”Matthew 7:11
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.James 5:17-18
5.God wants me to give to others what I want!
“So in every situation, always do to others what you would want them do to you. This sums up all the commands and teachings in the Bible.” Matthew 7:1
On seeing this, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming!” 4 But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said, “Why do you harbor evil in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk?’ Matthew 9:3-5
