Deeper Theme: Does Jesus contradict Himself with regard to his coming? Does He always refer to his 2nd Coming when He say's He's coming?
What happened to the deamons that entered the swines?

2 Peter 2:4: For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but
cast them down to hell (tartaroo – to tartarize ← Tartarus)
and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for
judgment...

Tartarus - mythological concept: Zeus defeated the Titans and threw them
into the lowest part of the underworld

The Earth – prison-house of the devil and his angels → judgment
What coming is this, Christ’s 2nd coming?

If Yes – Jesus made a mistake! (?)

36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of
heaven, (nor the Son –NIV) but My Father only.

Mistake??? If you don’t know…, you don’t say it!!!
If it is not Christ’s 2nd coming, what coming is it?

Meeting them after resurrection (?)

Coming through the Holy Spirit (?)

18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Fall of Jerusalem=Coming of the Son of Man (?) –Mat. 24

30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And
then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.

Something else, indicated by the context…
How does the context help us understand the nature of this coming?

• missiological, not eschatological

Matthew 10:5.22 ←→ Matthew 16:28

28 “Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”

• Local mission project: Matt. 11:1 →12:1

• Unlike in Acts 1:8
Isn’t the expression Son of Man an eschatological title of Jesus Christ?

Not necessarily…

20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” (Matt. 8:20)
Your Take-Away

• Before you suspect Jesus of error, you better look again into the text…

• Jesus keeps His word… he joined them before they finished the project!
