Psalm 23:1 ESV
David uses the metaphor of a shepherd to refer to God. As shepherd, God provides all that is needed.
Psalm 23:2 ESV
God provides nourishment, food for the soul.
Psalm 23:3 ESV
God provides restoration and guidance.
Psalm 23:4 ESV
David walks in confidence. No fear - the mark of a Christian life.

David switches metaphors and now portrays God as a host.
Psalm 23:6 ESV
For David, the presence of God was in the house of the LORD. For Christians, the presence of God is in Jesus Christ.
