Salvation Message
Thank you for coming out to the tent or treat and thank you for coming out tonight.
We were blessed that you came.
Can someone tell me what these are called? (Show a pack of Crackers/NABS.)
Terminologies change at times. When I moved here, I had people ask, “Do you want some nabs?” I said no because I didn't know what “nabs” were and I was embarrassed to ask.
Tonight, I am going to share with you some terms that you may or may not have heard. I don’t want you to be like me and fail to ask. I didn't know what I was missing because I failed to ask. At the end of the service, we are going to have a time when you can ask if needed. We have people ready to help answer your questions.
Tonight, I want to give you my story of when I was Saved.
This is the first term I am sharing with you: Saved.
Romans 10:13 ESV
13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
I grew up in a home where church life just wasn't a priority. My Mom, Dad, and older brother were just really never truly committed to church life.
As a teenager, I got involved in a lifestyle that included some really bad things. Drugs, Alcohol, etc.
At the time, I enjoyed these things, but I always had guilt about them.
But when my brother, who is almost 5 years older than me, got Saved- There’s that term again- He started persistently inviting my parents and I to church. Finally, to get him off my back, I went and went several times.
While I was at church, I always felt a little guilty because I knew the way I was living, was not like what I was hearing.
One Sunday, I picked up my girlfriend and I told her that I knew we were not living right and that our lives needed to change. I had decided we were going to join the church.
So, we went to the service and to be honest I do not remember exactly what was preached. I just knew my life needed to change.
Really, I didn't understand what was going on during that time. Now I do.
The second word I want to give you tonight is: Holy Spirit/Conviction.
John 16:8 ESV
8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:
God was using the Holy Spirit to convict me that MY LIFE needed TO CHANGE.
However, I had already come up with a plan to change my life. I was going to join the church.
So, when the Pastor finished preaching, I walked down the aisle of the church and said to the Pastor, “I want to join the church.”
He asked, “Have you ever been saved?”
I thought, “Yes, I was spared from several car accidents that I was in” In addition to that, what little church background I had, I went to VBS and I was baptized. I replied to the Pastor, “I was baptized.”
He asked for a gentleman in the church to come and talk with me about being saved.
That gentleman used several bible passages with me, to show me how to be saved, that I want to use with you tonight.
Charlie shared with me:
Romans 3:23 ESV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
The reason I felt my life needed to change was because sin had affected my life. The way I was living proved I was a sinner and that I had fallen short of the glory of God.
Sin had created a gap between me and God.
Then Charlie shared that the only way to remove the gap was Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross.
Romans 6:23 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Charlie shared that if I accepted God’s gift, Jesus, then I could be saved. He told me that salvation was possible for me because God loved me and died to save me from a life and eternity without Him.
That day, I broke down because I was overwhelmed that God would love me enough to die for me and then be willing to accept me as ungodly as I was.
Charlie asked, “Do you want to be saved?” Meaning, do you want to receive God’s gift- a life with Jesus.
I said, “Yes I do.” I was tired of doing life my way. The guilt, shame, and disgrace were evident. I wanted to be saved from this life I was living and have new life. That day I saw Jesus as the only hope for a changed life.
My previous Baptism didn't provide salvation.
My desire to join the church couldn't save me.
Charlie shared that If I wanted to be saved, then I needed to receive God’s gift, Jesus. And he told me how. He said I needed to confess or call on the LORD.
This is the third and final word today: Confess.
Romans 10:9-10 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
He said I needed to believe and by prayer confess to God that He loved me, died for me, and was the only way for me to be saved or made right with God.
Then, I talked to God, I confessed and asked God to forgive and save me and He did.
That day my life changed FOREVER, for the better. Not because I prayed a simple prayer, was baptized, or wanted to join the church. That day my life was saved and changed because I accepted God’s gift, Jesus, by receiving him.
Prayer lead me to acknowledge or agree with God that I wanted Jesus in my life, to lead it and change it.
Little did I know, on that day, how awesome and miraculous it was to be saved. I had questions and still do but that day I knew I wanted my life to change. Being saved by Jesus was the only way for that to happen. I needed new life and not just a reorganized life.
Three words today. Saved, Holy Spirit/Conviction, Confession.
Do you need to be saved? Your only hope for salvation is to receive Jesus by believing and confessing to God.
Bible example: Luke 19:5-6 & 9 ESV
5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully.
9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham.
This man Received Jesus when Jesus called him to come and was saved. The actual word used is salvation.
Do you need to be saved today? No unsaved person is right with God nor will they go to heaven when they die.
I want you to receive Jesus by believing and confessing.
You are believing the following:
· You are believing Jesus is the only way to God and the only way to heaven.
· You are believing that Jesus Christ paid for your sin debt in full and that no human work, church membership, baptism or prayer to a priest can save you, Jesus does.
If you are ready today to be saved, Believe and ask God to do it.
If you have questions, please hold your hand up so someone can talk with you.
Let me tell you what I did the day I was saved. The Pastor shared with the church members of my salvation and everyone celebrated with me. It was awesome! Those who raised your hand, will you come and let me pray with you. Do you have to? No. Would it be good for you, to be encouraged and motivated about your faith? Yes.
Thank you for coming out to the tent or treat and thank you for coming out tonight.
We were blessed that you came.

Terminologias cambian a veces.
(Musica debe comenzar a tocar suavemente.)
