Following Jesus starts with His call, not our choice.
Following Jesus isn't (and has never been!) about religious duties and obligations, following Jesus is (and always will be!) about embracing His mission over everything else!
Passion for the mission of the Kingdom of God is almost always a direct result of actually following Jesus.
Following Jesus means wholeheartedly embracing His mission, not my own!
Following Jesus means our eyes are on Him, not something else.
Following Jesus requires everything of us- but it gives us the only thing worth having.
Are you so into yourself, your comfort, and your stuff that you aren’t following Jesus? In other words- are you your first priority? Because if the answer is yes, you’re not following Jesus but following you.
Are you so devoted to religion that you’ve chosen the form of religious duty over the substance of following Jesus? If so, you’re not following Jesus, you’re following your (or someone else's) IDEA of Jesus.
Are you looking back instead of throwing all of you into following Jesus? If so, you’re missing the point- because Jesus wants all of you in exchange for His inexhaustible goodness and riches in eternity.
Following Jesus means living with no reserves, an unwillingness to ever retreat from Him, and an unwavering commitment of your whole heart to Him so that you will have no regrets.
Monday is coming! Don't let today just be about Sunday, make sure your worship experience today leads into Monday. Each week of the Back to Basics series we're going to be giving you a specific tool to make your Sunday impact your Monday through Saturday. If you think God is calling you to begin to follow Him for the first time- or the 5 millionth time- hop into this 10 day bible reading plan and let it begin some interior remodeling!
