Our Missions Heart

A church without missions is a church without a mission.

Ministry is for believers. Missions is for unbelievers.
It is believed that the very last words that Jesus said before he went back to Heaven is found in Acts 1:7-8
This is our mandate:
1. Jerusalem—Orlando
2. Judea—U.S.
3. Samaria—our ethnic diversity responsibility
4. Ends of the earth—our global responsibility, the world

For those of you that didn't know, this is a church called to rise up and fulfill the call of God.

We need to lift ourselves out of our self-centered spirituality, a mentality that says we are victims rather than warriors.

Our vision must be God's vision, to reach our city and make it a place where God's presence, God's ways, and God's word are a dominant force.
If I were to ask you who one of the first great missionaries were, I would hope that each one of you would include Paul on your list.

Since he was a missionary, he needed financial support. In Philippians 4, Paul commends the Philippian believers for their faithfulness in supporting his mission work. He praises them for their consistency and their willingness to sacrifice.
Not all churches can be praised. Not all churches have been faithful.

In verse 15, Paul points out that no one except the Philippians had given him anything:
I want to challenge every one of you to be a part of what Paul describes as the consistent, faithful believers.

It is my prayer that every single person in this church—including the children and youth—make a financial commitment to missions.

God gives his people worldly wealth for the spread of the worldwide Gospel.
1. of the saving power of God
2. it comes with universal significance; he says to the Jew first and also to the Greek (barbarian).

One of the major problems in the church today is pluralism—the idea that some people can be saved by Christianity and some people can be saved by finding their own way.

This gospel says there is only one way. This gospel is forever.

Whether you are young or old, only this gospel is going to save you.

No matter what your ethnicity, no matter what the color of your skin, no matter what your social background, no matter what your education, no matter what economic level you live on, this is a gospel for the whole world.

As time goes by, it is easy to lose focus on what you are doing and why you are doing it; if you forget what your purpose is, you can look awfully silly.

Ask God for opportunities to lead someone to Christ.
Pray for world missions.
Give to missions.
Pray about getting involved in missions.

The job of the witness is simple. He declares what he has seen and heard.

You may not be able to debate theology, but like the man born blind, you can say:
You can tell people, “I know that if you will repent of your sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, he will forgive you all your sins like he did for me.”
