The Collective: "Bring Life”

The Collective: "Bring Life”

It’s breathtaking to soak up the majesty of a clear fall evening. The crispness of the air, the sound of leaves blowing in the wind, and the sight of a sky unhindered by the city lights. There’s something about looking up and seeing the expanse of the stars and planets that opens up your senses and imagination. I like to think this is what David was doing when he penned Psalm 8:4, “what is man that you are mindful of him.” When you look up, you cannot help but marvel at this collective that God has brought together. Every cosmic object so distinct, yet in its place, to form the beautiful canvas to display the glory of God every evening. Is this not what the church was meant to be? A “collective”. A community of people partnering together, individually distinct, but united to display the glory of God. In his shortest book, the Apostle Paul wrote about this subject to Philemon. This small letter brought a massive challenge of, and encouragement to be, “The Collective”. Where Paul had once given the metaphor to describe the church as “members”, he now defines our role as “partners”. Paul’s desire was that the church would operate in the way God designed them: to walk in partnership with God and walk in a partnership with each other. And it’s from this heart that we present a three-week series to unpack the heart and vision of a new direction for those who’ve chosen to identify with Kfirst. We are ready to lay down “membership” for the purpose of “partnership”.
