Title: A Life That Prays Honestly
TAKE AWAY: What is one point from the text or sermon that reframed prayer for you, or brought to mind something you had forgotten about prayer.
EVALUATING: How do you usually treat prayer? What makes prayer so difficult?
CONFRONTING DOUBT: Andrew quoted Eugene Peterson who said, “Skeptics argue about God. Believers argue with God.” This is at the heart of holding nothing back in prayer. Bringing all our doubts and fears before him. If you’re willing, share a time when you argued with God. What did it look like? What was the outcome?
LISTENING: Listening is an essential part of prayer, yet likely one of the hardest. What are barriers to listening? How can we bring down those barriers and allow God to interrupt us?
RECEIVING: Andrew reflected that we often go to God looking for new information, or answers to our difficult questions, but God’s answer is often reminding us of what He’s already said. What implications does this have in your own prayer life?
PRAYER: We come to God in prayer both individually and corporately. Pray together, that we may be honest and open, bringing our whole lives before God.
