JUST A THOUGHT - Wiser Than Solomon - People were impressed with the life and ministry of Jesus and they came from everywhere just to see and hear him. It was sort of like King Solomon when all the people of the Middle East came to hear his wisdom. In the gospel of Matthew he writes, “When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works?” Typically, people try to understand others and figure out who they are and what makes them “tick”. Jesus didn’t exactly fit the mold of all the people of His day. He actually did miracles, signs and wonders. Teaching and words of wisdom flowed from His mouth like no one had ever heard, yet they still questioned who He was and under what authority He was doing all His teaching and miracles. He spoke a warning to the crowd one day by saying, “The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here.” The Queen of Sheba had come to hear Solomon back in his day and listened and was moved and she would judge this generation for not paying attention because a greater than Solomon was on the scene. Jesus’ entire life and ministry revealed He was wiser than Solomon. - PK
