DON’T LET IT GET TO YOU

PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

I. ANXIOUS… Anxious/concerned about our service to the Lord

Luke 10:38-42 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” 41And Jesus[l] answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

1. Sometimes we: Work with out Worship, We Prepare but with little prayer, We press on but with out His presence.

2. Our Service to Him can distract us FROM Him. Our anxiousness about the outcome can easily hinder the harvest.
II. ANXIOUS… Anxious/eager about the future

James 4:13-15 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.”

Matthew 6:28-34 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

There are times we can become so “eagerly anxious” to see what God will do in the future we lose sight of what He is DOING NOW in the present.
III. ANXIOUS…. Anxious/worried about what might or might not happen.

As difficult as it is to go against our nature, the Word gives us a firm foundation to stand on so that we can battle instinctive anxiety with God Given Assurances.

1. Assurance that HE is GREATER, end of debate.
I John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world

2. Assurance the HE will meet our needs based on HIS bank account.
Philippian 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus

. 3. Assurance that HE will KEEP us until the end of time. An Assurance that will carry us through what EVER we face.
II Timothy 1:12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
