Young Adult Sunday School - Does God Exist?

This Week's topic is on 'Cosmology - A Finely Tuned Universe'
Is it mere chance that life came into existence? Or does the fine-tuning principle demand an intelligent source acting outside the space-time universe? Let's allow the evidence to suggest some answers.

2018 CHURCH ELECTION

the list of nominations for SCBC boards and departments for 2018 is available at the Welcome Desk. As there is only one candidate for each position (and no candidate for some) and to save church resources, individual ballots will not be sent out to members. Instead, members are requested to pick up the nomination list on or before next Sun Oct 29, and to affirm the nominations or raise objection to any of them, with reasons. The completed and signed form should be put in the ballot box at the Welcome Desk before November 5, 2017. The results will be announced after acclamation by the Joint Board and General Members Meeting in November 2017. Please pray for the nominated candidates and suitable individuals to fill the vacant positions (by appointment).

Ministry in Cantonese

Teaching and Learning in Reflective Collaboration :
This workshop is by Dr.Jean Lee from CGST. It is for those who have a desire to teach and learn the Bible through the reflective collaboration approach. The meeting is on Sat Nov 4, 2:00-3:30pm in room 162. For more details, please contact Rev. Jeff Fong (ext 1207).

Praise and Thanksgiving

Give thanks to God for our Joint Board members and members in all ministries, for their commitment to serve. Because of their service, spiritual lives of the body of Christ are being built up, ministries are expanded. May their faithfulness be remembered by the Lord. Also pray for 2018 Joint Board members, fellowship staff, Sunday School teachers, members of all ministries, may God bless them and the work they do for Him.

God’s Church

Pray for the Alpha course. May the love and truth of Jesus Christ reach those who seek Him humbly throughout this faith-seeking journey.

Global Need

Justice in countries where other faiths are the majority is not available for all. In India, which is the world’s largest democracy, Christians who are the minority, feel the police do not take seriously investigations that involve them. Churches burned, rapes, abductions and even believers being killed on the street see no progress in the investigations. Pray for justice and that the voices of families will be heard.

Mission Prayer

Pray for Nicolas Chang who works with Light Patrol here in Toronto as he walks along side of people representing Jesus. Court cases, funerals, sharing a meal, simply listening to people whose lives have been damaged by the past and who seem caught in endless bad loops, fill his days. Pray for endurance as trust comes with time. Pray for spiritual strength and wisdom as Nicolas shows these hurting people something greater in Christ.
