Online Giving

We believe all that we have comes from the gracious hand of our God. It's not ours to keep; we've been entrusted by Him to be good managers of all that He has given us. So we view the giving of our time, talents and resources to the Lord as an act of worship. Regarding the stewardship of our financial resources, there are several ways we can participate in worship through giving...physically giving at one of our Sunday Gatherings, via check or cash and digitally giving through our church app, our website, or clicking on the link below to access mobile giving. Give as the Lord leads you, not under guilt or compulsion, with a thankful heart. Thank you for worshiping God in this way and being a part of helping Northlake Church accomplish its purpose of making disciples who make disciples!

COLOSSIANS 1:19-23 | Reconciled

COLOSSIANS 1:19-23 ESV

19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to RECONCILE to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. 21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now RECONCILED in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
KEY THOUGHT...

Since we have been incredibly blessed by God's RECONCILIATION, we are now responsible to continue growing as disciples who make disciples.
1. THE BLESSING OF BEING RECONCILED TO GOD!

THE BAD NEWS...[Colossians 1:21]
-- All of us were ALIENATED from God because of our sin
-- All of us were HOSTILE TO GOD IN OUR MINDS
-- All of us were DOING EVIL THINGS

In our natural state, we are absolutely incapable of pleasing God. What a hopeless situation...but God took the initiation to fix it!

THE GOOD NEWS...[Colossians 1:22a]
-- Jesus took on our sin, and through his death, reconciled us to God!
A. Judicially
B. Relationally

[Romans 5:8-11]
"8 ...but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were RECONCILED to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are RECONCILED, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received RECONCILIATION."
[Hebrews 9:22]
22 Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
[2 Corinthians 5:21]
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
[Romans 3:26]
26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be JUST and the JUSTIFIER of the one who has faith in Jesus.

THE GOAL OF JESUS...[Colossians 1:22b]
-- to present us before him HOLY, BLAMELESS, and BEYOND REPROACH
[Jude 24-25]
"24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
2. THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE RECONCILED...
TO CONTINUE GROWING IN THE FAITH OF THE GOSPEL

[Colossians 1:23]
BEING A DISCIPLE...: Continuing in the FAITH means being grounded and steadily growing in the hope of the GOSPEL
---A. Spiritual Disciplines (prayer, service, study of Bible, giving)
---B. Bible Doctrine (knowledge to stand against false teaching)

...WHO MAKES DISCIPLES: Continuing in the FAITH means proclaiming the hope of the GOSPEL to all people
---A. Know the Gospel
---B. Articulate the Gospel (Demonstrate and Declare)
3. HOW TO APPLY TODAYS SCRIPTURE TRUTH TO YOUR LIFE...

1. If you’ve never been reconciled to God by trusting in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, that is your urgent need! Don’t delay...repent of your sins, acknowledge your sin has separated you from God and receive forgiveness and RECONCILIATION through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ...if you will do that, Jesus will forgive you and give you his righteousness in exchange for your sin. What an awesome exchange. If you have questions, please reach out to one of the Pastor's or Elders, a GoGroup Leader or a trusted friend who knows Jesus...we would love to help you in your journey! prayer@mynorthlake.com, elders@mynorthlake.com

2. If you’re not grounded in the faith, your assignment is to lay out a plan and get started. Read through the Bible this year. Work through the church doctrinal statement, looking up all the verses. Get some commentaries and learn bible doctrine, talk to one of the Pastor's and we can recommend several resources to help you grow.

3. If you can’t explain the gospel, get some training, pray for opportunities, and do it! We who enjoy the blessings of reconciliation are responsible to continue in the faith of the true gospel.
