TRAGEDIES
- Maybe for you it was a family member who battled with cancer. Maybe for you it was a divorce that caused your family dynamic to change drastically. Maybe for you it was a hurtful thing someone at school said or did.
- Too many times we see the pain and suffering happening to us and taking place around the world: natural disasters, war, murder, hunger, car accidents—the list goes on and on. The Las Vegas shooting.
"God, why would you let this happen?"

EXPLANATION # 1: WE LIVE IN A BROKEN WORLD
- Things were perfect —no sin, no death, no pain, no evil-and Adam and Eve disobeyed God.

• FOUR KEY RELATIONSHIPS ARE BROKEN: God, Ourselves, Others, and The World.
- Jesus even promised us that this life would be difficult. He said, “In this world you will have troubles ...” (John 16:33, NLT). Some of the bad things we experience in life are simply the result of living in a fallen, broken, sin filled world.

EXPLANATION # 2: MAYBE YOU CAUSED IT
- If we’re truly honest with ourselves, God doesn’t deserve the blame for our circumstances—we do.

EXPLANATION # 3: MAYBE GOD WANTS TO DO SOMETHING BIG IN YOUR LIFE
- Maybe God wants to use a negative situation or tragedy to do something truly amazing.

WE'RE ASKING THE WRONG QUESTION
BE THANKFUL THAT GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO BAD PEOPLE
CONNECTION POINT
• Why do bad things happen to good people? No one is good and our world is broken.
- God isn’t the cause of our heartache. We live in a broken world, and many times we’re responsible for the brokenness we experience. He wants to help take these bad situations we experience and help transform them into something good and beautiful.
