All of our issues with authority grow out from the root of pride.
Jesus' call is to deny yourself the right to have final authority over your life.
King Jesus, expel me from the throne that rules over my heart, and take your rightful place.
Jesus speaks and acts with the authority of God, because He is God.
Jesus' response shows us we ought to consider saying less.
Jesus' response shows us that we ought to assess the person who is asking the question.
Jesus' response shows us that there is a time to ask the right questions, instead of just giving directives.
The desire to be one's own god explains the rejection of the authority of God.
Jesus cannot be seen as a savior, a friend, a good teacher, or a moral example, until you are willing to accept him as your Authority, your King, and your God.
King Jesus, expel me from the throne that rules over my heart, and take your rightful place.
