Throughout Scripture, God has called his people to be generous. This generosity is shown in the use of our gifts, our time and our finances. If you are a regular Hillside attender and you have made Hillside your spiritual home, then we encourage you to contribute to the needs of the church family, through time, use of your talents, or financially. It is our desire that giving to the church would be an act of worship, from a grateful heart, for all that the Lord has done for you.“Give, and it will be given to you. JUST A THOUGHT - Ask for Wisdom - Solomon was a young man when He became king of Israel and was going to need a great deal of help to rule the nation. He had a dream! At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” I read that and wondered, “Is this a trick question?” I mean, really, God’s asking this young man what he would like from the Lord apparently without strings attached. Solomon asks for “wisdom”! He didn’t ask to win the lottery, or a trip to the Bahamas, or a big army, navy and air forse to defeat all his enemies. He knew he needed help to rule with justice and in righteousness, so he asked for the best thing. Here’s a test for you ... ask any grade 12 student what they would like if they could have anything they asked for and see what they say. I’ll bet none think to ask for wisdom. Solomon would later write, “Wisdom is the principle thing therefore get wisdom!” Life is filled with choices and the direction our life has taken in the past and will take in the future will be completely dependant upon how we chose. For right or correct choices we need wisdom, insight and understanding. If we lack wisdom we can ask for it from the Lord and He says that He will give it to us liberally. Just ask! - PK
