Title:You Do You
THINKING BACK: Can you remember what you wanted to be when you grew up? Did you hope for a world where no one could tell you what to do?
LOOKING AROUND: Where have you seen the “You Do You” narrative in our society? What’s the outcome of living life based on “You Do You”?
SCRIPTURE: Read together James 1:13-17 and compare it to the temptation in the garden. What do you see?
LIVING IT OUT: What makes temptation so difficult to overcome? What makes it so difficult to come back from falling to temptation?
BUILDING HABITS: Three prayers in order that we might not fall to temptation: 1) Lord, show me where this road ends. 2) Lord, remind me what I really want. 3) Lord, cover me with your protective love.
What other strategies have you found for resisting temptation? How might you implement these prayers?
PRAYER: Pray the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) as you go into a time of prayer for one another.
