Perfect Love Never…
Becomes Jealous:
● To be moved with envy; to intensely desire what another person has without regard for them.
● Contrary to being jealous, Jesus is relentlessly joyful for any and all good that comes into your life. In fact, He is the source of all good that comes to you.
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. James 1:17
Brags:
● To boast or build up one’s self; to insist others take note of and admire you; to embellish your own virtues so that others might think better of you.
● Jesus life was marked by words and actions that honored His Father and by pouring value into the lives of others.
…Oh, woman, your faith is great… Matthew 15:28
Thinks or acts arrogantly:
● To think or act as if one better than others around them; to consider one’s self to be above others in value or worth.
● Jesus was prone to spending time with the people who deeply broken by sin. Instead of staying at distance, He walked right into their lives and stood with them and loved them. Perfect love is NEVER arrogant.
Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” Luke 15:2
Behaves unbecomingly (inappropriate/rude):
● To be rude, inappropriate or embarrassing.
● Perfect Love never behaves in a way that would diminish, embarrass or harm others, especially those who are most vulnerable.
Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go. From now on sin no more.” John 8:10-11
Seeks its own:
● To seek after one’s self-interests without regard for the welfare of others.
● Jesus didn’t come to seek His own in any way. The Cross stands as undeniable evidence of that.
Jesus, “…emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:6-8.
Takes a wrong suffered into account:
● To keep a clear record or account of something for the purpose of referring to or using at a later time.
● Every interaction with Perfect Love is done in the complete absence of our previous failures.
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1
Rejoices in unrighteousness:
● To celebrate or applaud injustice, impurity, unlawfulness or any form of unrighteousness.
● Jesus knows any and every form of unrighteousness is harmful and dark and will never condone or be happy because of it.
“Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore…” John 5:14
“The deepest need for all human beings is to surrender to Perfect Love.” ~ David Benner
Perfect Love – Jesus- has absolutely no manipulative self-interest involved at all.
You don’t have to protect yourself in any encounter with Perfect Love. You are entirely safe there.
“…and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.” John 8:32
