Battlefield Blessings
When faced with a problem or challenge, we tend to ask ourselves, “What am I going to do?”
And well-meaning family members and friends will come along and ask, “What are you going to do?”
Jehoshaphat faced a multitude of enemies.
But instead of focusing on what he would do, he prayed, “O our God… we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20:12).
When we turn our eyes to God, we will hear Him say, “Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s...You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord” (2 Chronicles 20:15, 17).
A. 3 Things Jehoshaphat Did Obediently:
1) Take your positions
What position are you in?
What position are you supposed to be in?
Are you in position to worship God?
Is your heart where it should be?
We’ve been talking about focus and attention for the past few weeks…
Instead of focusing on the enemy,
Instead of focusing on extraneous issues,
Instead of focusing on yourself...
Focus on where you are supposed to be…
IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD!
Position yourself in the God’s Presence and purpose!
2) Stand Pat.
“Having done all to stand, stand firm.”
I’m gonna stand right here.
I’m gonna stand for the truth and right of God!
I’m not going to run and hide in fear!
Those who are planted… will flourish!
“Don’t give your place to the enemy!”
Stay focused on God,
Stand in Him,
Stand for Him,
Don’t allow anything or anyone to MOVE you
from where you are supposed to be!
Paul said in Acts 20:24,
“But none of these things move me!”
3) Trust God.
Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart.
Don’t lean on your own understanding!”
Like Jehoshaphat, trust in God’s mercy that endures forever.
When you do that, God will turn your battlefield into the Valley of Berachah.
Isaiah 49:23
“Those who trust in the Lord will never be disappointed!”
Berachah means “blessings.”
The children of Israel gave the battlefield this name because it took them three days to gather all the spoils of war!
