The Shield of Faith - the Difference Between Victory and Defeat [August 2, 2020] Greg Burlile
What are these flaming darts (arrows)?
What is the shield of faith and how do we "take it up"?
Our enemy (the "evil one" = satan) is constantly shooting flaming arrows of temptation at us.

* DISCOURAGEMENT
* DESPAIR
* DISBELIEF
* Playing off the DESIRES of our flesh
Our faith and confidence in God is the means by which we take up our shield which is God Himself.

In the O.T., God Himself is often described as a shield for the believer.

Genesis 15:1; Proverbs 30:5; Psalm 3:3-4

Q: If God is our shield, how is that Pauls says faith is our shield?
A: Because faith is the means by which we flee to God for refuge. It is how we cling to Him and experience Him as our shield.

Colossians 2:6-7; Galatians 2:20
The shield of faith is able to extinguish ALL the flaming arrows of temptation

1 Corinthians 10:13
Linking up with others creates a solid wall of defense against the fiery arrows of the enemy

Philippians 1:27; Hebrews 3:13
