Psalm 93 is all about the kingdom of God and God’s reigning power. “The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The Lord has clothed and girded Himself with strength.” Or as The Message puts it, “God is King, robed and ruling, God is robed and surging with strength.” God is stronger than “wild sea storms.” God’s kingdom is anywhere His effective will takes place. Jesus came to announce that the kingdom of God is at hand. It has become available to all – to anyone who is willing to follow Jesus and live life under His leadership and control. Psalm 93 tells us that God’s kingdom is established and firm. It is everlasting. And we were created to live in His kingdom forever.
Jesus constantly spoke of the kingdom and invited everyone to come into the kingdom who would. His teachings, like the Sermon on the Mount, are descriptions of what kingdom living looks like. It’s a kingdom of love and acceptance, of transformation into Christlikeness. It’s living in fellowship with the Triune God and with other followers of Christ. It is the life we were meant to live and a life far superior to what the world has to offer.
