The Absalom spirit will lead you into deep levels of jealousy.
My White Dove’s meanings in the context differences of JEALOUSY and ENVY.
ENVY concern THINGS, but JEALOUSY is about RELATIONSHIPS.
The Absalom spirit will cause you to be JEALOUS over the relationships of ministers, other believers, and even family members.
This spirit will seduce to start or be a part of a conspiracy to disrupt RELATIONSHIPS in your favor.
2 Samuel 15:1-6 And it came to pass that after this, that Absalom prepared chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.
And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom said to him, “See your matters are good and right, but there is no one of the king to hear your complaint rightly.”
And Absalom said moreover, “Oh if only I were made the judge in the land, that every man who had any cause would come to me, and I could would give him right justice!”
And it was so, that when any man came near to bow to Absalom, that he would put out his hand and take him and kiss him.
And in this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom STOLE THE HEARTS of the men of Israel from the king.
ALL BEHIND THE BACK OF HIS FATHER
Absalom would defile his own father’s great reputation. He complained about the kings’ ability to judge righteously, while making self look better!
This is the ULTIMATE SCHEME of this jealous spirit; kissing cheeks sound familiar?
Absalom conspired to gain favor as caring for them, while he portrayed the king as hard and unfair!
IT IS A POLITICAL DEMON
Jealousy for another’s favor inspires politicking the masses, not just wooing them, but also slandering them!
Absalom desires of the same appreciation of a leader without paying the same price.
“If I were the king, the pastor, the leader, the boss, the owner, the coach, the president, etc.”, says this demonic spirit of Absalom.
If these “ABSALOM PEOPLE” did take over it would be disastrous for the followers.
The Absalom spirit deceives the person into believing he has a righteous cause and ultimately will be destroyed.
Absalom actually coerced men together to come against the king.
He was really proud of his force and really believed he would become successful.
THE LOCAL CHURCH
Absalom told the people that they had legitimate needs and claims. He said, “It’s too bad and a shame that the PASTOR doesn’t care or have time for you!”
Those people that agree have no idea an Absalom spirit is seducing them.
How sad that people are so open to a “self-focused, self-pity suggestion” and lose respect for a proven leader.
NOW FOR THE REST OF THE STORY
Absalom finally collected enough “foolish radicals” to march against the king!
He led them in a great war and many men died!
Of course, God saw to it that King David was victorious, but Absalom wasn’t!
2 Samuel 18:9,14 Now Absalom happened to meet David’s men. He was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak tree, that his head got caught in the tree; so he was left hanging between heaven and earth. And the mule under him went on.
Joab said, “I cannot linger with you.” And he took three spears and plunged them through Absalom’s heart while he was hanging from the oak tree.
We should examine our hearts and monitor our concern over the relationships of our authorities.
What do we do or plan to gain favor and popularity with the spirit of Absalom.
What is our motive in “kissing cheeks," “shaking hands”, and “inviting over”?
In our churches, “Absaloms” are conspiring to gain influence for their promotion.
Discern the spirit as “power-hungry” and “prestige-thirsty” in yourself and others!
Have compassion that if they do not repent, they will be left hanging by their own delusion.
In every church, family, and organization, God has a “JOAB” waiting for “ABSALOM” to be found hanging!
Joab’s love and dedication for God’s chosen leader is stronger than Absalom’s jealous conspiracy.
THE ABSALOM SUMMARY
The Absalom spirit tempts you to judge your family members as undeserving.
You will hear yourself say, “If I were the __________...”
You will begin to politick, kiss cheeks, and put down your target.
You will be attracted to those that are offended by the leader. You will have carnal sympathy for them and resentment toward the authority.
Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands with sinners, nor sits with the scornful.
Romans 16:17 Now, I urge you to mark those who cause divisions and turn away from them.
1 Corinthians 3:3 For you are still carnal. For where there is jealousy, divisions, and strife, you are fleshly behaving as mere men and not spiritual.
3 John 1:9 “I wrote a letter to the church, but Diotrephes, WHO LOVES TO HAVE PREEMINENCE among them, refused to receive me.”
The ABSALOM SPIRIT seduces a person into jealous manipulating for attention.
Be aware that this spirit may influence you and hinder your walk with God.
God directed Elijah the prophet to meet them at the vineyard.
The major symptom of this seduction is the desperate desire for ADMIRATION.
In today’s world, Absalom posts messages of seduction to unsuspecting “friends”.
Romans 16:18 For these do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own ego, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple naïve.
DISCERN THE SPIRIT
Psalm 5:9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; inwardly there is destruction; their throat is an open tomb; they flatter with their tongue!
The sad part is that so many Christians are naive and unaware and will fellowship with and under someone with no submission to a pastor, no church service, and no noticeable fruit of ministry.
Will connive, cheat, and manipulate to get control.
Will envy and hate the person of authority, influence, and popularity.
Jealous of prophetic anointing, gifting, and fruitfulness.
