The Lion and The Lamb
by Brenton Brown, Brian Johnson, and Leeland Mooring

He's coming on the clouds
Kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break
As broken hearts declare His praise
For who can stop the Lord Almighty

Our God is the Lion
The Lion of Judah
He's roaring with power
And fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the Lamb
The Lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world
His blood breaks The chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Every knee will bow before Him

So open up the gates
Make way before the King of kings
The God who comes to save
Is here to set the captives free
For who can stop the Lord Almighty

Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord (Almighty)

Living Hope
Brian Johnson and Phil Wickham
© Bethel

How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation I turned to heaven
And spoke Your name into the night
Then through the darkness Your loving-kindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished the end is written
Jesus Christ my living hope

Who could imagine so great a mercy
What heart could fathom such boundless grace
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
The cross has spoken I am forgiven
The King of kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior I’m Yours forever
Jesus Christ my living hope

Hallelujah praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ my living hope

Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me

Jesus Yours is the victory whoa

Jesus Christ my living hope
Oh God You are my living hope

Give Me Jesus

In the morning, when I rise
In the morning, when I rise
In the morning, when I rise
Give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus, Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world,
But give me Jesus.
Give me Jesus

Oh When I am alone,

Oh and when day is done,

Oh and When I come To die

CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1) What stood out to you from the text or the sermon?

2) Read Luke 16:14. The Pharisees responded to Jesus with ridicule. How are you tempted to respond to these parables?

3) Even in Jesus’ day people were asking for more and more reasons to believe, when God had already graciously given them everything they needed in the Scriptures (verse 31). How do you think we do this today, and what is the corrective for that?

4) In what ways has your comfort blinded you to the plight of others in our community?

5) What do you need to give away today that just has too much control over your life? Is there something that blinds you to the needs of others?

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

Luke 16:19-31

Title: The Rich Man and Lazarus
Scripture: Luke 16:19-31
Speaker: Nathan Miller, NathanM@ChristCommunityKC.org
"Our souls suffer in the suburbs when we have the financial means to always fill our needs, where we sleep on featherbeds and eat rich foods… Not until we feel our hunger can we be propelled towards repentance, vulnerability, welcome, and belonging… But the more I use stuff to fill up my hungers, the more distance I put between God and myself." - Ashley Hales, Finding Holy in the Suburbs
>> Comfort could be our curse
>> Comfort blinds us to others
"It's easy to close your eyes to poverty, physical and spiritual, not necessarily because we don't care, but because we don't have eyes to see. We use our houses as fortresses. We keep a safe distance." - Ashley Hales, Finding Holy in the Suburbs
"The rich man’s first demand is unbelievable. When Lazarus was in pain, he was ignored by the rich man. Now the rich man is in pain and something must be done about it--immediately! After all, he is unaccustomed to such things. Instead of an apology he demands services, and from the very man he refused to help..." - Kenneth Bailey
>> Comfort blinds us to ourselves
>> Comfort blinds us to life’s brevity
>> Trade today’s comforts for better ones tomorrow
