The Hunger Games! Drop off food in front of the church.

We are keeping the Hunger Games bins outside the front doors of the Church all the time now. Grab some extra non-perishables next time you are out grocery shopping and drop them off on your way home. We are bringing the food inside each day and dropping it off at Hungry Hearts (a ministry to Hollymead Elementary families) whenever we have a decent amount.

Grove Kids Movie Night Next Saturday at 3pm

Join the Grove Kids for a movie showing! Feel free to bring the whole family, some snacks, and get out of the heat with us. We will social distance inside the sanctuary.

Breakfast and the Bible and Youth Group

Breakfast & the Bible provides an opportunity for students to dig deeper roots through spending time in the Word and relying on each other for community and accountability. The groups meet at 9am on Sunday mornings outside the Student Center (behind the main Church building). Students gather over breakfast and study scripture together. You can also join us via Zoom with Meeting ID 872 2202 5411.

Join us on Wednesday nights at the Student Center! All students 6th-12th grade are welcome, and we love meeting new visitors! During this time, students experience what it is like being connected to the True Vine by sharing in worship, a message, and small groups. We are currently meeting in-person from 6:30-8:30pm and on Zoom from 7-8:30pm with Meeting ID 397 369 944.

Today's Message: As It Turned Out
Your TRAGEDY can lead to TRIUMPH
Your CHARACTER matters and is REFINED in the fire
Your SACRIFICE may be your SALVATION
Your HAPPY ENDING is never just for you
Your STORY is to be one of REDEMPTION
What is your giant?
The Story
Whenever you step out by faith to fight the enemy, there’s always somebody around to discourage you, and it often begins in your own home.
–Warren Wiersbe
The Takeaways
To defeat our giants... we must face them
To face them, we need to overcome fear

Courage is not the absence of fear. It's the absence of self.
To face them, we need to overcome naysayers

A naysayer is someone who systematically obstructs some action others want to take.
To face them, we need to overcome procrastination
The Takeaways
To defeat our giants... we must visualize the reward
hey

Pike Syndrome

The Takeaways
To defeat our giants... we need a solid anchor and a clear focus
In what was David's confidence?
In the might and power of His God.
To David what really mattered was not the size of his giant, but the size of his God.
Christianity, at any given time, is strong or weak depending upon her concept of God. I insist upon this, and I’ve said it many times, that the basic trouble with the Church today is her unworthy concept of God...
Our religion is little because our god is little. Our religion is ignoble (not honorable in character and person) because the god we serve is ignoble. We do not see God as He is...
What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us… Were we able to extract from any man a complete answer to the question, “What comes into your mind when you think about God?” we might predict with certainty the spiritual future of that man.
–AW Tozer
David's view of God grew because he remembered past victories
When facing our own giants, we forget what we ought to remember and we remember what we ought to forget. We remember our defeats and we forget our victories.
David's view of God grew because he pursued a deep relationship with God
Where was David's Focus?
On the honor and glory of God
See you next week!
