I. Stay in the harbor.
II. Ride out the storm.
III. Cut the ropes.
If you don't stay...you will drift.
Discussion Questions:
Icebreaker: What is your favorite boat riding memory?
1. Do you tend to listen to reason instead of God's leading when he asks you to stay instead of move?
2. Sometimes our actions have consequences, but God still uses us. When can you think of a time where this happened to you?
3. Have you ever "cut the ropes" and given something to God you truly trusted in?
4. Do you feel the constant tendency to "drift" when you don't practice a consistent relationship with God?
Closure: This story is the perfect portrayal of human tendencies and behavior. We tend to take the reins, go our own way, suffer the consequences, and then God still uses it for His purpose and glory if we're willing to "cut the ropes" and obey what He says. Let's really take the time to listen and do what God is telling us to do because we all feel that pull of drifting as lives get busy and the responsibilities continue to pile on. Even in our highly scheduled lives, God has purpose, and interruptions and is preparing things for you to do. So stop, listen and allow God to lead your life.
