Unselfie | Time

Let’s face it- we don’t live in a world that encourages sacrifice . . . and especially not sacrifice for the sake of others. We’re too busy sucking in our stomachs for that perfect selfie to think much about reaching out our hands to others. But Jesus calls us to post a very different picture for the world to see, a picture he described this way: “Greater love has no one that this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13). The selflessness that Jesus calls his followers to means investing our time, talents and treasures in others. Unfortunately, the world can’t teach us what that looks like, so join us for the Unselfie series this August and see what the Bible says about how we’re to invest our God-given resources every single day.

Welcome to Mission Hills!

Mission Hills is a church family—a family who wants to extend to you the same love, hope, and joy that we have received. We know that we cannot be all things to all people. But we do want to be one thing to all people. We want to be the place where anyone, of any age, of any level of spiritual maturity, of any economic class, of any ethnicity, of any church background—or no church background—can meet God in a way that transforms their life…forever!

If you are a first time guest, we would love to meet you! Stop by the Welcome Center for a free drink at Peakview!

We were not created to do life alone.

GroupLink Coming Soon!

We were not created to do life alone. Come find community in a Life Group. Made up of 10-15 people, Life Groups meet in homes all over the area in a casual setting to enjoy some food, study the Bible, pray for each other, and share life. It doesn’t matter if you’ve studied the Bible your whole life or you’re new to the whole concept of digging into God’s word. No matter where you’re at in life, Life Groups are a great place for you!

TIME is often the most mismanaged of all the resources God has given us.
And if we’re going to accept Jesus’ invitation to join with him in his mission of loving others sacrificially, then we have to fix that!
If we’re going to use our time the way God intended, then we have to think about our time the way God intended.
1 // Our time is not our own-- The question we should be asking is not “how should I spend my time?” but “how should I spend God’s time?”
2 // Balance vs Rhythm-- The second major misunderstanding about time that we have to correct is the idea that one of our highest goals in life is achieving balance. It’s not.
1 // Identify the season (and the activities appropriate to it).

2 // Release expectations.

3 // Seize opportunities.

4 // Anticipate the next season.
When we live appropriate to the seasons we’re in, we have all the time needed to love those God calls us to love in that season.
Think About These Questions This Week

1 // What season am I in?

2 // What expectations can I release myself from that are not appropriate to this season?

3 // What opportunities to love others are unique to the season I’m in?

4 // What joys can I anticipate in the next season to sustain me through this one?

Coming September 9 and 10

Baptism Weekend // September 9 and 10

We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his or her Savior. Baptism is a public declaration of an inward faith. It is a personal declaration that we choose to identify with Jesus. Baptism does not save you—it shows others that you are already a believer. It is not essential to salvation. It is an outward act of commitment to show what already happened in your heart—much like putting on a wedding ring is a symbol of your commitment in marriage.
