Come As You Are by David Crowder
Sometimes we have the misconception that we have to have it all together before we can enter the Throne Room before our Lord. The reality is, even though that feeling is real and true, we can never do anything to enter into the presence of our Holy God. That is why we need Jesus! Jesus, being the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, has given us His blood so that we can enter the presence of our Holy God. We may feel unworthy, and that feeling is right, but we no longer have to feel that way. "Earth has no sorrow that heaven can heal." That line from this song is so poignant that we need to accept Christ's sacrifice so that we can lay down our burdens before the Holy God that loved us so much He sent His son for us.

UNFAIR - "not fair; not conforming to approved standards, as of justice, honesty, or ethics"

Are there things in your life that you would deem unfair? As we read through the story below, think about all of the UNFAIR things that happened to Jonathan.

Jonathan had a lot of unfair moments in his life. One of the biggest is that he should have been king. Since he was Saul's son and Saul was king, Jonathan should have been king after Saul died. However, that is not how God saw things. God's plan was such that He gave Israel a king that they deserved - unintelligent, rash, sinful - in order to teach the nation a lesson. As we look back through this time in Israel's history, we can look at Saul and what kind of king he was compared to what kind of king David ended up being. David was a far better king than Saul. He was very dedicated to not only his people, but to God's will. Yet, David was not without sin. Through his relationship with Bathsheba and the events that followed, we can see now that God was showing Israel no matter who you say is king over you, no one will be the perfect king. That is, until Jesus. And God uses Jonathan, the rightful heir to the throne in the world's eyes, to help David in surviving Saul's threats upon his life. He uses Jonathan to show us that even though we may think that we deserve something, the reality is that we deserve nothing. What we might call unfair, God might call character building. What we deem unfair, God deems fair for His glory.

Because He Lives (Amen!) by Matt Maher
Our communion song today reflects where we are when Christ called us - dead in the grave. Ephesians 2:1-4 (HCSB) states: "And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler who exercises authority over the lower heavens, the spirit now working in the disobedient. We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also." Paul lays it all out for us. We were nothing but objects of wrath for our Holy God to destroy. Yet, Paul doesn't stop there (where we sometimes like to stop when proclaiming the Gospel). My favorite thing in the Bible is what I call "The Big But." And Ephesians 2:5 is the BIGGEST BUT in all of Scripture. Paul writes, "BUT God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by Grace!" Amazing Grace?! Amazing Grace, indeed! It is because He lives that we live and it is the reason why we sing!

10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord) by Matt Redman
No matter what we have going on in our lives, we should stop and give God praise. Let this song be an anthem for your weekly worship this week and may we praise God with all that we have and all that we are for ever and ever. Amen!
