Why It Matters - wk1 Missions

We have a mission as a church that drives the WHY we do what we do, but we also have other things that matter to us. We wanted to take a few weeks to highlight some other significant WHY’s – as followers of Jesus these are important and why they matter!

The Church – the greatest organization every initiated. Not because it is an organization, but because it’s a movement – established by Jesus himself!
A movement fueled by the LOVE and HOPE of JESUS. It’s ALL about Jesus. He gave the Great Commandment and Great Commission pushing us forward...it’s out job to GO; it’s His life, His love, His words that change/transform lives. Missions Matter!

Acts 1:8

The term “witness” provides remarkable insight into the nature of the disciples’ task. A witness gives testimony based on what the witness knows, what he or she has seen—not hearsay, not rumor, not something someone else saw, but what he or she has experienced, seen or heard.
The direction was of primary importance: Beginning from where you are at this moment, take the message of Christ outward, like ripples caused by a pebble thrown into a pond, not stopping at just your city or state but moving on beyond regional influence to the very “ends” of the earth.
I've heard it said:
The greatest privilege of the church is worship! The greatest priority of the church is evangelism – continuing the mission of Jesus in our world! Bringing His story and his live-giving love across your street, around the corner, into every part of the city and into every corner of the globe!
-Expanding concentric circles of this movement of Jesus.
Right Here – Over There – Way Over There = or you can capture it as:
"Personal reach" – "Local reach" – "Global reach"
1) "Personal Reach" & influence: is the impact and influence you can have with those God steers across your path...from the homeless to the hurting around you. It's learning to look for the opportunities for you to step up and stand in the gap for someone. Short stint or Long investment. Live by the rule: "Do for ONE, what you wish you could do for EVERYONE."
2) "Local Reach" & Influence: (work through your local Church). We are so honored that 'WE can do more than me'. We are better together to help push back darkness in our city. God has used us in some amazing ways over the last 4 years together. From giving out over 1000 backpacks to kids in need as they begin school, 5 Serve Sunday's that have volunteered hundreds of work hours in doing God's good in schools and ministries within our city, providing 97,000 lbs of food for folks in need since last October in our monthly Food Distributions, and thousands of dollars of equipment, materials and services donated to Catalina High School, TUSD, Caring Ministries, AZ Baptist Childrens Services and other ministry organizations. Well done! WE have more to do together!
"Local Reach" matters because it can impact lives and the city God has placed us in. The city we love! AND to a watching world – a Jesus focused generosity, with no strings attached, SPEAKS VOLUMES TO A SKEPTICAL WORLD searching for an authentic HOPE!
3) Global Reach & influence: (expanded partnerships) - A couple years ago we prayed over and launched out a young couple from our church family to be missionaries with YWAM. Tyler and Megan have been leading teams on international missions, training up leaders each summer with a missions focus and working with Muslim students at a university to influence with the gospel.

We also have helped launch a Church and Compassion Children's Center in Playas, Ecuador along with Pantano Christian Church. We've had 2 trips there to work with the over 200 kids that attend and are sponsored. Some of you sponsor a child and we've had folks (Josh Calton) go for an extended time to invest there - you'll hear his story tonight.

Our NEXT TRIP: is being worked on for June 2018. pray about going with us and seeing your sponsor child if you have one:)
This week: be praying about your next step: Then GO (begin)

PERSONAL REACH - who is God leading you to impact/influence for His good that's right around you?
LOCAL REACH – how are you joining in with the mission work of God in and through Elements? Start serving in our church in our ministries and also through the outward expressions of missions through our church.
GLOBAL REACH – what might that look like? Supporting a team going to Ecuador, going yourself, maybe a new missions expression we’ve not had yet?
Need Prayer? ....we've got some of our prayer team and pastors available following service to pray with you. Or you can text the word "prayer" to our phone number: #520-300-9001 to submit your prayer request to our prayer team to partner with you.

Thanks for partnering with us to BE the church in our city... (online giving)

Thank you so much! All we do is fueled by your gifts. You can be a financial partner with us by giving in the boxes in the back or give online here: *(there are also resources on that page to help you)
