SERIES INSIGHT:
What does it mean to be “Blessed”? How do we accept the posture and promise of one who is blessed with the challenges of being people who experience burdens, boundaries? When can we see the reality of being blessed when life reveals things that bear down on us and expose or blind spots in living? We can, we should live this way, and God’s word gives bountiful examples from the experiences of everyday people and pivotal players who bear out these truths. In the season when we step back from so many things, let’s step in to this moment and be students of God’s amazing call to us to own our roles as people who are “BLESSED”.
Ruth is one of God's great human models to glean learnings from on how to celebrate and seek appreciation of this in greater status. As we walk through her story with an add-on from Deuteronomy, our focus will not be on detailed human relational truths found in the text, but the shadows of our Savior's love and kindness we see through the words of the recorder. Our goal is to celebrate and grow in our awareness of being people who are “blessed”. We also desire to call attention to just how blessed we are in every circumstance and call of God. Seeing and embracing our status of blessed is not always easy, often challenging. However, doing this work gives courage, compassion, and contentment for our living. We hope to help us all do so more in our lives with this series… “BLESSED”!

BLESSED, pt. 5: "Blessed Beyond Boundaries" (Ruth/Deuteronomy)
BLESSINGS BEYOND BOUNDARIES are born when we acknowledge:
1. EVERY PLACE of FAMINE has the potential to be transformed into a place of favor. (Ruth 1:1; Duet. 28:3)
2. Blessings are not BECAUSE of what is there, but what can BE. (Ruth 1:1; Ruth 1:5-6; Ruth 4:9 (Today), Duet. 2, 5-6)
3. Blessings are GRANTED and not GAINED. (Ruth 4:9-10; Duet 28:7)

St. John's Giving Link:
We have the ability to change the world and create a legacy that will live forever in the lives of generations to follow. That legacy starts when each of us takes the hard steps of financial discipline and fulfilling the call to generosity that God has placed in all of us. Your giving is an act of worship and makes possible the ministry of changing lives, transforming communities and renewing the church. In addition to giving your tithes and offerings given in the offering plate, you can give online through the link here. Easy Tithe allows you to setup a one-time or recurring donation from your credit card, debit card, or checking account. A recurring donation allows consistent amounts to be made directly from your chosen method of payment and makes giving a regular priority. If your banking institution offers online bill pay you can add St. John's United Methodist Church alongside other monthly recurring payments you already make. Donations may also be mailed to St. John’s United Methodist Church at 7372 Marine Rd., Edwardsville, IL 62025.
