Unselfie | True Love

Unselfie | True Love

Let’s face it- we don’t live in a world that encourages sacrifice . . . and especially not sacrifice for the sake of others. We’re too busy sucking in our stomachs for that perfect selfie to think much about reaching out our hands to others. But Jesus calls us to post a very different picture for the world to see, a picture he described this way: “Greater love has no one that this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13). The selflessness that Jesus calls his followers to means investing our time, talents and treasures in others. Unfortunately, the world can’t teach us what that looks like, so join us for the Unselfie series this August and see what the Bible says about how we’re to invest our God-given resources every single day.

Welcome to Mission Hills!

Mission Hills is a church family—a family who wants to extend to you the same love, hope, and joy that we have received. We know that we cannot be all things to all people. But we do want to be one thing to all people. We want to be the place where anyone, of any age, of any level of spiritual maturity, of any economic class, of any ethnicity, of any church background—or no church background—can meet God in a way that transforms their life…forever!

If you are a first time guest, we would love to meet you! Stop by the Welcome Center for a free drink at Peakview!

Unselfie Toy Drive

Next time you stop by the store, grab a gift for our Unselfie Toy Drive. Bring your unwrapped toy for a girl or boy of any age on August 26 or 27 and drop it off in the bins in the lobby. The Life Center will deliver these toys and other resources in December in partnership with a church in Cañon City.

Jesus has a tendency to simplify my thinking in a way that complicates my life.
Now understand, Jesus isn’t replacing those 613 commands with a new one. What he’s doing is summarizing those 613 commands with this one command that captures their essence.
Jesus wasn’t asking them to anticipate what he was going to do, he was asking them to remember what he had already done:

1 // He was calling them to remember how he sacrificed his time to be with people.

2 // He was calling them to remember how he sacrificed his resources to bless those in need

3 // He was calling them to remember how he set aside his infinite glory in order to live life with people that most of the world tries to avoid.
When Jesus commands us to love one another and lay down our lives for our friends, this doesn’t just mean people we already have a close relationship with.
The best evidence for friendship with Jesus is our sacrificial love for others.
Jesus wants a relationship with us that turns compliance with his commands into cooperation in his mission.
Jesus never settles for us…he selects us to play a part that we are custom-built for.
When we join Jesus in his mission of loving others, he begins to give us access to the resources to truly bless others.
Jesus invites us to join him in his mission of loving others sacrificially.

Coming September 9 & 10

Baptism Weekend // September 9 & 10

We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his or her Savior. Baptism is a public declaration of an inward faith. It is a personal declaration that we choose to identify with Jesus. Baptism does not save you—it shows others that you are already a believer. It is not essential to salvation. It is an outward act of commitment to show what already happened in your heart—much like putting on a wedding ring is a symbol of your commitment in marriage.
