Today's sermon: Rethinking 666 (Or: My Toilet Runneth Over)
Revelation 13:11-18

11 And I saw another beast coming out of the land, also having two horns like a lamb and it spoke as the dragon. 12 And it did everything with the authority of the first beast before it, and it did so to the land and those dwelling in it, in order that they might bow down before the first beast, of whom the plague of its death was healed. 13 And it did great signs in order that it might make fire out of the sky come down onto the land before the people 14 and deceive those living upon the land on account of the signs which it gave him to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling upon the land to make an image for the beast, who had the plague of the sword and lived. 15 And he gave him the ability to make breath for the image of the beast, in order that also the image of the beast might speak and might do so, in order that as many as would not bow down to the image of the beast, might be killed. 16 And he did (it) for all, those small and great, and those rich and poor, and those freed and slaves, in order that they would give to them a mark upon their right hand or upon their forehead 17 and in order that no one would be able to buy or sell, except the one having the mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 Here is wisdom: “The one having a mind, let him count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a person, and its number is six hundred-and-sixty-six.”
