Jesus had a purpose for everything that he did, including miracles. They are called signs, because they’re pointing us to truth.
Why did Jesus walk on water?
1) Reveals that He is God- Divinity
2) To bring His divinity near us.
Jesus goes to the mountain to Pray..
1) Thanked the Father
2) Prayed for the disciples
a. Jesus is Merciful and faithful High Priest before God
b. He prays for his own

1) Jesus Reveals His Divinity -
a. He saw the disciples were in trouble. He can see them the way God always sees, with His omniscience…
1) Jesus Reveals His Divinity -
b. "He intended to go past them" -He wanted to show them He was God in all the fullness of His glory. Similar to what happens in Exodus 33:19, when God passed by Moses.
Moses asked God to show him His glory. God answered by doing two things.
First, He said He would make all His goodness pass before him.
Second, He said He would proclaim His name before him. His name is Yahweh, which means. “I am”.
1) Jesus Reveals His Divinity -
c. Jesus tells the disciples “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!” He said, “It is I”. which in the Greek means the I AM. This phrase refers to a Deity, the name God used to reveal who He was to Moses
That is why Jesus is able to say… “But take courage,” from Greek tharseo means to be brave, get a grip on yourselves.

Jesus, He is the one who says “be brave, don’t fear, The I AM is here
2) Jesus Brings His Divinity Near to Us
a. Jesus was willing to come near to them, not just when we’re filled with faith and obedience, but also when we’re filled with unbelief and doubt.
b. He walked on water to come to them.
c. He climbed into the boat with them.
To know God, and all that God has revealed about Himself, is the highest pursuit of life.". - John Mcarther
God will walk on water to come to you…
Even if you cannot see him through the darkness of your trial … he sees you…
Jesus sees you, Jesus knows you, Jesus saves you, and reveals himself to you, and comes near to you, and loves you with a love beyond your understanding.
THINK ABOUT IT...
How has Jesus rescued you in the past? From what do you think you need God to rescue you today?

THINK ABOUT IT...
Jesus reaches out to us; when He does, what do you need to do to respond? How can you better take His lead?

THINK ABOUT IT...
Our confidence is in Christ and not in situations. So, what can you do to encourage others in your life and church to not be afraid, but to put one's confidence and trust in the Lord?
