Propitiation - 'pro-pi-she-ay-shn'

The word propitiation carries the basic idea of appeasement or satisfaction, specifically toward God.

Propitiation is a two-part act that involves appeasing the wrath of an offended person and being reconciled to him.

The only way for God’s wrath against sinful man to be appeased and for us to be reconciled to God is through Jesus Christ.

There is no other way.

Fathers here can refer to both parents.

As we put on the new self and walk in Christ, we will obey our earthly masters - in a modern context, our employer or supervisor.

Do you work well, work hard, work properly?

Are you compassionate, kind, humble, honest, transparent, truthful?

Are you representing well?

Remember, answer the questioner, not the question!

In some people's minds, Christians are boring, dull and uptight...How do we counter this image other than getting out there with our gracious and salty speech, full of wit?!

Remember, our new self is like a tamed wild horse, get out there and use that power!

So, are you scintillating?

Is your life exciting?

Is you conversation sparkling?

Is it seasoned with grace and salt?

Take a moment and think about a non-Christian friend you’ve got...

Maybe you’ve been praying for them for a while...

Maybe you can talk to them this week...

Reach out and be yourself...

If they’re here, buy them lunch of a coffee...

Just be yourself, but actually be there.

All of that theological, Christological, profound brain-knowledge that we acquired from chapters one and two makes little difference until it's applied, does it…

Knowing...

Doing...

What can you do in light of this amazing knowledge you have of Christ?

Everything has come to this, the crescendo of his letter...know this...but go and be like this, do this, reach people, be out there, be yourselves, not constrained, free, just go and be...

Knowing that in everything, for everything, Christ is supreme and sufficient...how...because He is God.

Let us be out and out for Christ - in the home, at work, in prayer, and in public...ready to explain with grace and salt why we love Him.

Let's live for Him privately, prayerfully, and publicly.
