God Is Always Watching

God Is Always Watching

Faltering is a sober word that describes a person slipping down, going under, giving in, and losing the battle. We would say, “They gave up.” The pressure to falter is great, and at times, all of us would falter, without an exceedingly great and precious promise. Facing the overwhelming creates serious days. And serious days call for serious promises. And that brings us to today’s promise: “I will not falter because God is always watching.”

If we are going to make this promise our own, we have to understand the setting. The context in Isaiah 42 is that God’s people are being judged. They were wayward and rebellious, and God was done with their attitude. The Lord was letting them feel the weight of all the garbage they had created by not trusting Him.

Redemption is one of the greatest words in any language. We see its most glorious application on the cross of Jesus Christ. Before God interrupted your life, you were a slave to sin and had no way out. You owed a debt you could not pay—not even partially, or over time. You were bankrupt; morally, ethically, and spiritually broke. You were going to rot in debtor’s prison, forever. But Christ showed up and redeemed you. He settled your debt. He paid the price so that you could be set free.

God says. You think it’s all over because you’ve got some problems? I redeemed you. What will I not do for you now? Fear not!

The greatest treasure in verse 2 is the promise of His presence. At three places; through the waters, through the rivers, and through fire, He promises, I will be with you.

So what does it mean to say the eyes of the Lord are upon us. Let’s scan a few Scriptures:
1) The eyes of the Lord are inescapable.
2) The eyes of the Lord are synonymous with what’s right and true.
3) The eyes of the Lord are focused upon and attentive to His own.
4) The eyes of the Lord are searching for people to bless.

The Lord gave to ___________ all the promise had sworn to give. And ___________ has taken claimed the promises that God has given. I claim the promise that God is always with me, so I don't have to be afraid. I claim the promise that God is always in control, so I will not doubt. I claim the promise that God is always good, so I will not dispair. I claim the promise that God is always watching me, so I will not falter. In Jesus's name, Amen.

It is said there are 7,487 promises in the Bible. Some are specifically given for a specific time, for a specific person, for a specific reason. But there are five promises God makes over and over, to every person of faith, in every generation. When we make these truths our own, they become intensely personal, incredibly practical, and profoundly reliable. Join us on Sundays, beginning April 3 through May 1, as we look at Promises That Make All The Difference..
