. . . This world is not what it should be . . .

. . . Everything is supposed to be different than it is . . .
This World Is Not My Home (by Jim Reeves)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ndMZqT6i4I

This world is not my home
I'm just a passing through;
My treasures are laid up
somewhere beyond the blue;
The angels beckon me
from heaven's open door;
And I can't feel at home
in this world anymore;
Oh Lord you know
I have no Friend like You;
If heaven's not my home
then Lord what will I do;
The angels beckon me
from heaven's open door;
And I can't feel at home
in this world anymore.”
We don’t belong here . . .
We are resident aliens . . .
(i.e. expats, citizens of another country, pilgrims)

“Abraham had faith and obeyed God. He was told to go to the land that God had said would be his, and he left for a country he had never seen. Because Abraham had faith, he lived as a stranger in the promised land. He lived there in a tent, and so did Isaac and Jacob, who were later given the same promise. Abraham did this, because he was waiting for the eternal city that God had planned and built.” (Heb. 11:8-10 CEV)
Stranger Danger:
- If we forget who we are and where we belong we might start feeling comfortable here.

“Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants—what is good, pleasing, and perfect.” (Rom. 12:2 GW)
Stranger Danger:
- When we feel out of place, we begin to think that there's something wrong with that.

“I’m doomed to live in Meshech, cursed with a home in Kedar, my whole life lived camping among quarreling neighbors. I’m all for peace, but the minute I tell them so, they go to war!” (Ps. 120:5-7 MSG)
We have an Eternal Destiny (See Psalms 64 & 120)

Reminder #1 : : Be brutally honest, with ourselves and with God.

Reminder #2 : : Put our safety, welfare, and happiness in God's hands.

Reminder #3 : : Look to God for justice, instead of taking matters into our own hands.
We have an Eternal Destiny
Paul’s letter to the Philippian church and his words of hope to all believers since… and to SCFC…

- Since this world is not our home, it should come as no surprise when our hearts grieve and lament over the pain we encounter on our journey.

- God is our protector and provider.

- Our only hope of survival is to cry out to God in prayer.
Reflection:
1)What is God saying to me?

2)What am I going to do about it?

“And the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.”
(Phil. 4:23)
