Introduction
How does Satan disconnect us from God?
#1. By coming to us IN DISGUISE
His Person
His Purpose
His Person
His Purpose
#2. By questioning us TO DISTRUST
God’s Word
God’s Character
God’s Word
God’s Character
So What?!
4 Steps to resurrect relationship?
#1. Face your Creator.
…they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the
garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
Adam & Eve’s HIDING & HURLING

#2. Face your Responsibilities.
…the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. Genesis 2:15
Work is a BLESSING
Work BUILDS esteem

#3. Face yourself.
…The woman you put here with me—she gave me…
…The serpent deceived me…
Failure is a bruise not a TATTOO!

Questions for Further Discussion
Genesis: this is how we begin to remember. Message #2. Fall
Group Discussion: Do you remember, as a child, the first time an adult stretched the truth (some call this lying!) with you?
Read aloud: Genesis 3
OBSERVATION: What does it say?
What was the only recorded character trait of the serpent in 3:1?
What was the first thing the serpent said? (The first thing a character in an Old Testament Bible story says is often very, very significant because it sets up the entire theme of the story.)
How does the serpent’s question set up the entire story?
What’s the significance of Eve’s response?
What’s the significance of Adam’s response?
INTERPRETATION: What does it mean?
Isn’t it odd that the serpent talked? I’ve never seen a serpent talk. Why would God allow a serpent to talk? Look carefully at what the serpent says, does he ever say anything that’s true?
How does Eve exaggerate God’s Word?
Why do Adam and Eve clothe themselves? Is this just a physical issue?
Why do Adam and Eve hide from God? Is this just a physical issue?
Do Adam and Eve say anything true to God?
Why did God create consequences?
How does God’s restriction of Adam and Eve from the garden of Eden represent grace?
If you had been God what would you have done differently?
CORRELATION: Other Scripture that helps my understanding.
Read I John 2:12-17 How does vs. 16 resemble Eve rationalization in Gen. 3:6?
APPLICATION: So what?
If this is a case study in temptation and how the tempter tempts us how does marketing on Madison Ave. use human self-centeredness to sell its products?
How about Hollywood selling its movies?
What other industries use human frailty, pride, selfishness, insecurity to sell their products? If you have a magazine look through its pages at the ads and discuss whether or not the advertisers use temptation.
