Throughout Scripture, God has called his people to be generous. This generosity is shown in the use of our gifts, our time and our finances. If you are a regular Hillside attender and you have made Hillside your spiritual home, then we encourage you to contribute to the needs of the church family, through time, use of your talents, or financially. It is our desire that giving to the church would be an act of worship, from a grateful heart, for all that the Lord has done for you.“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over…” Luke 6:38a

JUST A THOUGHT - Who's Battle? - I was reading the story of David and was again intrigued by his encounter with Goliath. The scene is set with Israel in “battle array” on the foot of one mountain and the Philistine army in battle array at the foot of an opposite mountain. They were ready to get it on! They came toward each other shouting and chanting and ready to do a big battle, until the Philistine giant and champion came forward and reduced the battle to his challenge of, a one on one, winner take all. This giant named Goliath was nine foot nine inches tall – he was a big boy, and he sent Israel’s army running! One day David showed up with some bread, wine and cheese to check on the battle and bring a report back to his father Jesse. Surprised by Israel’s lack of faith and trust in God, he said he would fight the giant. He went into battle armed only with a sling and five smooth stones. Oh wait, he had one more key weapon ... his confidence that the battle actually was the Lord’s battle. “Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, ... all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.” Who’s fighting your battle? - PK
