1. Priests were given authority to bless the people in the name of the Lord.

a. It is called the Aaronic blessing because God told Aaron to bless the people this way.

b. We are priests of God

2. The Lord bless you...

c. The blessing of God goes back to Abraham.

d. There are four elements here,
· Increase of descendants to become a nation.
· Material blessings
· Renown and honour
· Becoming a source of blessing for others

e. We bless others from out of the grace that has been given to us.

3. …and keep you.

a. Keep is a shepherd’s word.

b. Our Shepherd is a lamb

4. The LORD make his face to shine upon you…

a. When God shines His face on something it means that He
notices it.

b. When the LORD makes His face shine, He brings salvation.

c. This is an expression of His love.

5. …and be gracious to you.

a. Appeals for God’s grace go hand in hand with Him shining His
face.

b. Being gracious is part of who God is.

c. God wants grace to abound to us.

6. The LORD lift up his countenance upon you…

a. An idiom for having great favour.

b. God wants to give us favour.

7. …and give you peace.

a. Peace is the Hebrew word Shalom. It can mean tranquility and
contentment

b. It can also mean welfare.

c. Peace also means wholeness

d. We can bless others with this peace

3. Let us bless from the impartation and authority God has given to us.
